You may be able to try some of the tasty goodies we have planned for this event. Peace, Love and Sweet Treats!

"HHG - DTOWN"

Dear eHeads,

It's been a minute since the last time I've posted on this site and for that I apologize. Big things have been popping off and I've got to get better and remember to update on a more regular basis. For starters I've been closely involved with another Dallas organization called the Hip Hop Government and was asked to come on board as their backbone to their operation. I've been appointed as the sites Web Designer and Creative Director. These brothas are doing it big and doing great things for not only our communities within the DFW area but all over as far as Canada. I'd keep an eye out for this organization we're DOING IT BIG IN 08.

Sharing The Love

Dear eHeads,

When I first started getting involved with the whole Jena Six movement I didn't realize or even prepare myself for the possibility of different opportunities that would and have crossed my path. I say that because I've met so many like-minded people and one of which I'd like to share with you. I believe this brotha offers a wealth of information to aspiring, and seasoned entrepreneurs.

Although my blog as well as his site is opened to all that visit, we both are trying to help elevate black entrepreneurs to be a strong network for our culture. I know that you will find the information on his site very useful to your business. So please visit the site, there is power in NETWORKING!

The Next Level

Dear eHeads,

I was recently asked what were my intention for Blackpreneurs.com and this blog. My very first thought when I started was to make it an online magazine for Black Entrepreneurs and I think its high time I make that happen. There are so many resources out there for Entrepreneurs and I want this domain to be able to make those available to the visitors of this site. I also want to help other BE's in sharing their stories and created a strong network. Keep checking back as things are going to start changing around here.

The Launch Of A Come Back

Dear eHeads,

I first want to apologize for my absence. I didn't anticipate how much the Jena Six ordeal would consume my life and my family's. But I do have news to report. We successfully mobilized a 22 bus caravan with well over 1,100 people down to Jena, Louisiana. That's totally awesome! It's so rewarding when you know you made a difference and was apart of something as major as it was, we made history yall! Just the overall process was more than words could explain, it literally
changed my life. Activist - Who Me? It has faded out a little bit for me so I have some time to really do some writing damage on all my blogs I run. Don't give up me...I'm back!

Monumental Movement

Dear eHeads,

I'm not sure if you've heard the story about the Jena Six boys in Jena, Louisiana. If you haven't heard of this please Google Jena Six and read up on it. The reason I'm bringing this to your attention is because there's going to be a national protest in Jena, La on September 20th. I first time heard about the protest and the story was on the Michael Baisden Radio show. I have since volunteered to organize travel for the Dallas/Fort Worth area in support for the Jena Six. So if you're interested in a seat on the buses that will be traveling down, please call my voicemail # @ 817-349-3602 letting me know how many seats you'll need. There's information posted below so please access those resources. And if there's anything else you'd like to do the help please let me know. Thanks for your time is the urgent matter.

"Work It Out This Lifetime"

Dear eHeads,

Have I got a story for you. If I haven't already mentioned it, I'm writing and self-publishing my first of a series of cookbooks entitled "Raising Chefs...not just good cooks!" I rencetly managed to land the most important meeting thus far with non-other than celebrity Chef G. Garvin from TVOne's "Turning up the heat", this Friday.

I've been going back and forth about the meeting wondering to myself why do I even want to meet with this man, and what will he think of what I'm trying to do with Raising Chefs. It's almost like sliding a demo tape or cd to a high profile music executive, hoping he'll see the potential. And then I ask myself, then what will he be able to do, if anything?

I've asked everyone close to me for advice of how to approach this man. My sources tell me that he is a very down to earth kinda guy. He'll probably set that tone when we meet so I shouldn't over think it too much. Well, I believe it's easier said then done because I want so much to impress him, that he runs back to whom ever and sings about me and what Raising Chefs is all about. That's my hope...before...

Before what you ask...well this past weekend my family and I almost lost our lives. There was and still is a tree hovering over the power line going to our house and somehow another part of the tree fell on another part of the line snapped and pulled it away from the house. Our 3 kids were outside at the time playing in the rain and if that line was a little longer, they wouldn't be here today. After the lights went off I just thought the electricity was off, not knowing there was a live wire cut from the house and exposed. I'm in the breaker box just switching things and I could have gotten electrocuted. As if that wasn't enough, my husband noticed the ceiling fans completely stopped and started back in reverse and went to pull the switch and about 240 volts of electricity went through those fan and the lights got so bright all the bulbs started popping, and he almost received an electric shock as well. 5 close calls, and you better believe we're thanking GOD for that!

So before all of this happened I was worried about the meeting with G. Garvin, but now I'll walk in there and introduce myself along with my family and just work it out. Because this book is my dream and there is nothing anyone can do or say to deter me from accomplishing this dream. I've prayed and still pray for people to be sent my way that could possibly help elevate me a little closer to my reality and if that happens with Mr. Garvin then I except that blessing but if it doesn't then I move on from the experience and try another route. We're given one life and I plan to use my time wisely and live this dream to it's fullest potential.

@ The Round Table

Dear eHeads

I often joke with my kiddos when were sitting discussing the book, new recipes, or other business ideas. I say to them that we're sitting at the round table. You know that scene in Set it off, or the GodFather?

I had one of those types of meetings today with my mom. I love talking with her, sharing with her what I'm working on and I know I can count of her for some awesome advice. She helps me get those creative juices flowing. You have to surround yourself with people that you can consider an asset in your life. She fits the bill.

If you dream it they will come!

Dear eHeads,

This is a rather late entry but I know my visitors are out there. I just wanted to share with you that on June 26th my kids and I were invited out to do our first cooking demo/book promotional presentation at a Country Club here in Fort Worth, TX. This was very big for us, almost like opening a new establishment and framing your first dollar bill. After that I know there's more good things to come.

Like I told you before, my own dad told me that trying to write and publish this cookbook wasn't an obtainable goal, that I needed to find something a little more realistic, more practical to make it in this world. Well, again I say this...don't believe the hype from non-supporters. If you want it, and you keep down the path towards that vision, let no one put up false detour signs, they'll lead you nowhere! And then your dream is lost, and you wind up just settling...LIKE THEY DID!

DREAMS DO COME TRUE!

The Bad Boy of Radio

Dear eHeads,

I do believe this is another (must-know) resource to have if you don't already know about him. (and why wouldn't you!) The Michael Baisden show particularly on the 1st Wednesday of the month is about Living your Dream. It inspires me every time I hear it. If you haven't you should, and if you have listened to it keep on! It's motivational, inspiring, uplifting, and encouraging! I love Michael...please keep doing what you're doing...I need to be put on BLAST!

Dear eHeads,

Just in case you didn't know about this little gem and you've been looking for this very thing to add to your website. While surfing the internet for instructions on how to display an icon in the address bar with your own logo I came across FavIcon from Pics. Check it out!

The Power of Networking

Dear eHeads,

Is there really a power in networking? Fo, sho! If there's one thing that sticks with me that my mother has shared with me is that there is a great power in networking. Come on, you've all heard the saying "it's not what you know it's who you know." That is so true and words I live by, and if you don't you should. I really love the online networking opportunities more so than the more traditional ways of networking. Being online for me is less intimidating, you're much more comfortable talking to complete strangers then you would be out in public. And I think corresponding with people online first and then setting up the first contact meeting goes a lot smoother. (That's my experience.) Just thought I'd share that bit of info...
